As part of the 30th Jožef Stefan Days, the Jožef Stefan Institute awarded its Honorary Certificates. This year’s recipients include the joint-stock company Unior and Mr. Jože Ravničan, M.Sc.
As part of the 30th Jožef Stefan Days, the Jožef Stefan Institute awarded its Honorary Certificates to four companies and seven individuals recognising their successful transfer of scientific and technological achievements and know-how, created at the Institute, to the social and economic environments. On a proposal from the Automation, Biocybernetics and Robotics and Intelligent Systems Department, a Honorary Certificate was also awarded to Mr. Jože Ravničan, M.Sc., and UNIOR d.d.
Unior d. d. collaborated with the E1 and E9 departments of the Jožef Stefan Institute (IJS) in several phases of the ROBKONCEL project. The project involved the pooling of specific knowledge and Unior’s practical experience in robotisation and the introduction of intelligent systems into the production environment. The synergy of both led to results providing several research values and new competitive edges in several ways.
Unior d.d. has been collaborating with the IJS for decades. UNIOR d.d. finds it extremely important to collaborate with the research industry allowing it to remain one step ahead of the competition by combining knowledge and practice. Breakthrough innovative solutions require innovative research collaboration; for this reason, it is important to build on existing achievements, collaborate with the right research organisations, connect these to specific knowledge and foster collaboration with research organisations in advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms.
Boasting more than 100 years of tradition, Unior acts as a global development partner to the automotive industry. It is one of the three largest foundries in Europe and one of the top 5 European manufacturers of hand tools. Unior is globally recognised as the biggest manufacturer of forged parts for steering mechanisms and an important global manufacturer of special CNC machine tools used for large-scale processing of blanks made from steel, aluminium and other alloys.
